HM the King inaugurates geriatric psychiatry center in Ar-Razi Hospital in Sale

His Majesty King Mohammed VI inaugurated on Thursday a center for geriatric psychiatry, carried out by the Mohammed V Foundation for Solidarity in Ar-Razi hospital in Salé.

Costing some 5.5 million dirhams, the facility falls within the guidelines of the royal message to the participants in the Second National Conference on Health (July 1, 2013 in Marrakech), in which the Sovereign stressed on "the right to access health services, which has been enshrined in the new Constitution of the Kingdom, as one of the major pillars for the consolidation of citizenship and achieving integrated human development that we want for our country."

   The center, part of an action program by the Mohammed V Foundation for Solidarity, aims to strengthen the health sector in the country, diversify the offer of psychiatric care through alternative approaches, particularly for the elderly. It also offers an academic training program on Geriatric Psychiatry.

   This facility will also provide intensive psychiatric care based on individual and group therapy approaches through liaison work with families and patients' network to ensure care that includes the psycho-therapeutic, artistic, physical and social dimensions.

   The center, which spans on an area of 1100 m2, includes a day hospital for conventional medical and psychiatric consultation, and several rooms for cognitive activities development, occupational therapy, physiotherapy, psychotherapy,  music therapy, and recreational activities.

   The new facility, which also includes a reception area and administrative offices, is managed by the Ar-Razi hospital with the support of the SILA Association.

   On this occasion, His Majesty King Mohammed VI handed over the managing association of the center a minibus donated by the Mohammed V Foundation for Solidarity.
