Statement by Royal Office
Here follows a statement by the Royal Office:
"HM King Mohammed VI received, on Monday 03 December 2018 at the Royal Palace in Rabat, Ahmed Reda Chami, whom the Sovereign has appointed chairman of the Economic, Social and Environmental Council (CESE).
During this audience, the Sovereign stressed the role and importance of the Council, as a pluralistic constitutional institution with consultative missions to the government and parliament, whether it be general guidelines for the national economy and sustainable development, various economic, social and environmental issues, or analysis of the current situation and the monitoring and impact of national, regional and international economic and social policies.
In this regard, HM the King gave His High Guidelines to Mr. Chami so that the Council could continue to carry out the tasks entrusted to it and to strengthen its efficient contribution in terms of proposals and preparation of studies in the various fields falling within its competence, particularly with regard to promoting human and sustainable development projects in our country, facilitating and consolidating consultation and cooperation between economic and social actors and strengthening the culture of dialogue.
On the same occasion, HM the King has appointed Younes Benakki as secretary general of the Economic, Social and Environmental Council".
