Vocational Training: Royal Support Of True Success

  The positive results in the field of vocational training were highlighted during a graduation ceremony for this field's graduates, attended by HM King Mohammed VI on Saturday at the Royal Palace of Casablanca.

On this occasion, Director General of the Office of Vocational Training and Labor Promotion (OFPPT), Larbi Bencheikh gave a speech before His Majesty the King in which he presented the results of the initiatives taken by the Office in the 2002-2012 period, and the future development pathways considered to meet the needs of businesses and improve their performance.

   Mr. Bencheikh said OFPPT, thanks to the Royal High guidance, continued over the past decade the dynamic of diversification, development and consolidation of its training options with the aim to enhance the employability of young people,  improve the competitiveness of businesses, and contribute to the economic and social development of the Kingdom.

   Highlighting the significant increase in training between 2002 and 2012 which reached 471 pc, Mr. Bencheikh said the development plan of the Office targets the training of a million young people by 2017.

   To achieve this goal, OFPPT has built a wide network of schools - 327 training centers - that cover all the sectors of the economy, said the Director General of the Office, noting that particular attention is paid to training in promising sectors of employment for Morocco as defined by the National Pact for Industrial Emergence (aerospace, the automotive industry, offshoring ... etc.) as well as construction, tourism, ICT, transport, and logistics.

   Mr. Bencheikh stressed that OFPPT attaches particular importance to South -South cooperation by sharing its expertise with a number of African countries.

   The ceremony was also marked by the screening of a film about the institutional efforts of OFPPT to accompany the structural projects in the Kingdom, and which  highlighted the main objectives of sectoral training institutions that have been launched or opened by the Sovereign.

   HM the King handed down symbolic certificates to six distinguished graduates in the field of mechatronics, ICTs, four distinguished graduates in the sectors of ICTs and industry, as well as the top twenty graduates in the various sectors of industry, trade, transport, administration, and management.

   The ceremony took place in the presence of the Head of Government, Advisors to His Majesty the King, members of government, representatives of public institutions, OFPPT partners, managers of the Office, as well as several personalities.

   At the end of the ceremony, His Majesty the King hosted a reception in honor of the OFPPT graduates and attending personalities.
