Today, Morocco has significant water facilities and equipment at its disposal following the high Directives of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, for a proactive and preventive water policy based on strategic planning, and the implementation of ambitious long-term programs along with an appropriate legal and institutional framework, to create optimum conditions for sustainable management of water resources.
It is within this framework that the National Drinking Water Supply and Irrigation Program (PNAEPI) 2020-2027, was established and presented to His Majesty King Mohammed VI on the 13th of January 2020 to accelerate investment in the water sector, in order to strengthen the supply of drinking water and irrigation, and ensure our country's resilience to climate hazards and disruptions.
The implementation of this program required an initial investment of 115 billion dirhams, increased to 143 billions on High Royal Instructions given on May 9, 2023, aimed at accelerating the pace of this program and updating its content.
