Placed under the High Patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, the event, initiated by Morocco's House of Councillors and the Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean (PAM), sets out to explore the main challenges and opportunities facing the global economy, particularly in the Euro-Mediterranean and Gulf regions, with a particular focus on legislative action and the role of parliamentarians in bringing about the desired change.
The opening session featured speeches by Speaker of the House of Councillors and President of the Association of Senates, Shoora and Equivalent Councils in Africa and the Arab World (ASSECAA) Mohamed Ould Errachid, PAM President Giulio Centemero, Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Mohamed Sabbari, as well as representatives of legislative institutions and parliamentary groups from Africa, the Arab world, Latin, Central and South America, in addition to the President of the General Confederation of Moroccan Enterprises (CGEM) Chakib Alj.
On the agenda for the two-day meeting are sessions tackling topics such as "The Evolving Landscape of International Trade and Finance in the Euro-Mediterranean and Gulf Regions," "Energy Adaptation in Both Regions – A Multidimensional Approach to Achieving Sustainable Development," and "AI and its Governance – Enhancing Parliamentary Oversight through Monitoring its Evolution, Applications, and Regulation."
This Forum provides an advanced institutional platform for dialogue and cooperation between PAM parliamentarians and partners.
It brings together political and economic leaders, public and private sector stakeholders and representatives from academia and civil society to address key challenges, propose solutions, and promote stronger economic ties and investment between the two regions.
