Bayt Mal Al-Quds Agency, Al-Quds University Ink Scholarships Agreement

The Bayt Mal Al-Quds Acharif Agency signed on Tuesday a cooperation and partnership agreement with the Al-Quds University to provide scholarships to students and research professors working on subjects related to the holy city, its history, religious and civilizational legacy and its ties with Moroccans.

The agreement, signed through video-conference, by the Director in charge of the management of the Agency's external affairs, Mohamed Salem Cherkaoui, and the President of the University, Imad Abu-Kishk, aims to organize the relations between the two parties in terms of granting of incentive scholarships by the Agency to doctoral students and research-professors of the university.

Signed on the sidelines of a meeting to encourage scientific research within Al-Quds University and King Hassan II's Faculty for Agronomic and Environmental Studies in Gaza, this agreement will provide scholarships for field research on Al-Quds and its economic, social and environmental reality through updated data taking account of new research aspects related to civilization and landmarks.

The agreement will come into force in the next academic year (2021-2022) with three-year renewable scholarships. The scholarships will also benefit theses on the legal aspects of the city of Al-Quds and the inalienable rights of its inhabitants.

Three scholarships per year will be awarded to each of the above-mentioned fields, with a maximum of $6,000 for field studies, $3,000 for humanities and $3,000 for legal sciences.

The Agency will also grant a symbolic reward of 5,000 dollars to the members of the commission set up by the University to oversee the research projects. It will also ensure the printing of theses and the distribution of 50 copies of each thesis to universities.

For its part, Al-Quds University will ensure the pre-selection and supervision of applications, in addition to providing assistance to students and research professors.
