Central American Parliament Seeks to Strengthen Cooperation with Morocco: Parlacen Speaker

Speaker of the Central American Parliament (Parlacen), Tony Raful Tejada, called on Wednesday in Rabat for the strengthening of relations of "cooperation and friendship" with the Kingdom of Morocco.

Following talks with minister of foreign affairs and international cooperation, Nasser Bourita, Tejada told MAP that he has presented several proposals to Bourita that underline the need to strengthen relations of cooperation and friendship between Morocco and Parlacen.

He explained that he has proposed the signing of an inter-institutional collaboration agreement between Parlacen, the Moroccan Parliament and the European Parliament, the creation of an African-Latin American parliamentary assembly and the signing of a free trade agreement between Morocco and Parlacen member countries.

At this meeting, "we also had discussions on the means to strengthen cooperation and collaboration between the two parties", he pointed out.

Founded in 1991, the Central American Parliament, also known as Parlacen, which is based in Guatemala City, brings together MPs from Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, Dominican Republic and Panama.

The Moroccan parliament is a permanent observer member of Parlacen.
