Head of Govt. Stresses Need to Give New Impetus to Regional Investment Centres

Head of Government Saâd Eddine El Othmani underlined on Wednesday the need to give new impetus to Regional Investment Centres to enable them support extensive regionalization.

According to a statement by the head of government, El Othmani, who chaired the second meeting of the said centres, said that the event is an occasion to continue the reflection on elaborating an innovative conception of the centres' future missions, given their crucial role in supporting and promoting small and medium-sized enterprises regionally and in assisting investors.

These Centres are no longer able to carry out their missions and fulfil the roles assigned to them since their establishment 15 years ago, whether due to their institutional framework, their evolution or the developments on the socio-economic landscape, said the head of government, quoted in the statement.

The meeting, which was attended by ministers, secretaries-general and executives from the different sectors concerned, was an opportunity to make a diagnosis of the centres' current status and to review the major challenges facing these bodies, notably with the implementation of extensive regionalization and the devolution policy.

The Regional Investment Centres are urged to overcome the obstacles to conduct their missions, in accordance with a strategic vision that takes into account the expectations of investors, through the simplification of administrative procedures, according to the same source.

On December 18, 2017, the Head of Government chaired the first inter-ministerial meeting on the said centres, pursuant to the High Royal Instructions calling for the development of an innovative conception for the future missions by the Regional Investment Centres.
