Interior Minister Holds Talks with his Saudi Peer in Rabat

Interior minister Abdelouafi Laftit held, Thursday in Rabat, talks with his Saudi peer, HRH Prince Abdulaziz bin Saud bin Nayef bin Abdulaziz.

On this occasion, the two ministers discussed ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation in areas of common interest as well as security developments and challenges in the Arab region, says a statement by the ministry of the Interior.

At the end of the talks, an enlarged meeting was held, attended by the two ministers and several officials of the interior ministries of Morocco and Saudi Arabia, during which both parties stressed the need to strengthen cooperation mechanisms between the two departments through the conclusion of an agreement in the field of security cooperation on the fight against transnational organized crime, terrorism, illegal emigration and drug trafficking, as well as the exchange of data and expertise, notes the same source.

In the area of training and capacity building, the statement adds, both sides agreed to develop and implement expert exchange programs, hold joint training sessions and exchange experiences.

They also underlined the importance of implementing the civil protection cooperation agreement signed in Riyadh in 2013.

Both sides consider that this meeting constitutes another stone in the edifice of fruitful cooperation relations between the two countries, based on the bonds of fraternity, and reflecting the solidity of brotherly ties between HM King Mohammed VI and Custodian of the two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, concludes the statement.
