Millennium Challenge Program Improved Living Conditions Of 600K Households, Head Of Govt.

The Program of the Millennium Challenge Account (MCA) by the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) enabled to improve the living conditions of nearly 600,000 Moroccan households, said head of government Abdelilah Benkirane on Tuesday in Rabat.

Benkirane, who was speaking during the monthly session on the general policy at the lower house, said that, among these families, 110,400 households in the rural area benefited from the project of fruit trees, 24,800 have benefited from the project of traditional fishing, 29,400 craftsmen have benefited from the handicraft project in the city of Fez, and more than 104,000 people benefited from the program of fight against functional illiteracy and vocational training.

 The program has enabled the planting of 75,377 ha of olive and almond trees, the rehabilitation of 53,400 ha of irrigated lands through the construction of 847 km of irrigation canals, the setting up of 87 water purification facilities and the development of traditional fishing infrastructure in 10 ports, said Benkirane.
