Minister Delegate for Administrative and Public Service Reform Elected First Vice-president of AU-STC 8
The Specialized Technical Committee (STC) 8 on "Public Service, Local Government, Urban Development and Decentralization" elected, on Wednesday in Addis Ababa, minister delegate for Administrative and Public Service Reform, Mohamed Benabdelkader, first vice-president of this African Union's structure.
The minister chairs the Moroccan delegation to the proceedings of this session, which was devoted to the renewal of the STC 8 bureau and the examination of the review report on the Committee's action during the previous year, as well as the approval of the Addis Ababa general declaration.
The new bureau, whose mandate covers the period 2018/2020, is chaired by Lesotho. The second and third vice-presidents will be from Tanzania and Burundi, respectively.
This is the second major mission entrusted to Morocco within the AU bodies since its return to the Pan-African organization after its election last January as a member of the Union's Peace and Security Council.
