Moratinos Expresses Gratitude to HM the King for Holding Alliance of Civilizations Global Summit 2020 in Morocco

The High Representative of the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations (UNAOC), Miguel Angel Moratinos, expressed his gratitude to HM King Mohammed VI and the Kingdom of Morocco, which will host the Global Summit of the Alliance of Civilizations in 2020, with the aim of making a greater contribution to promoting better intercultural and interreligious relations throughout the world.

"I am grateful to HM the King and Morocco for the confidence they have placed in the Alliance of Civilizations to hold this Summit in the Kingdom next year," Moratinos told the press after his talks, Sunday in New York, with minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Nasser Bourita.

"This is a major Summit (...) that will focus not only on the relations between the countries of the Arab and Muslim world and the West, but also Africa and Latin America," said the former Spanish Foreign minister.

Referring to his talks with Bourita, the High Representative of the Alliance of Civilizations said that they focused on "Morocco's excellent cooperation relations with the Alliance."

"We are working on all issues, including prevention, mediation and the fight against terrorism," he stressed.

The United Nations Alliance of Civilizations was created in 2005 on the initiative of Spain and Turkey, under the auspices of the United Nations, with the mission of promoting better intercultural relations throughout the world.
