Morocco Aims to Expand Airport Capacity to 80 Mln Passengers by 2030

The Moroccan Airports Authority (ONDA), through the agreement sealed with the government on Thursday in Rabat, aims to expand airport capacity from the current 34 million passengers to 80 million by 2030, Minister of Transport and Logistics, Abdessamad Kayouh, said.

This agreement, which forms part of the “Airports 2030” Royal vision, provides for the construction and expansion of several airports through a new financial arrangement and a renewed approach, the minister underlined in statements to the press following the signing ceremony of the memorandum of understanding, chaired by the Head of Government, Aziz Akhannouch.

This includes the construction of a new international airport in Casablanca, in line with international standards, as well as the expansion of seven other airports located in cities that will host World Cup matches, Kayouh pointed out.

This agreement also aims to meet the high demand for tourism by 2030 and beyond, he added.

Signed between the Government and ONDA, the agreement covers the period 2025-2030 for a total investment of MAD 38 billion.
