Morocco, Determined to Engage in Initiatives Aimed at Developing Arab Cooperation

Speaker of the House of Advisors Hakim Benchamach said, Saturday in Cairo, that Morocco is determined to engage in positive initiatives to develop cooperation between Arab countries in the context of mutual respect, good neighborliness and respect for the sovereignty and unity of States.

The Kingdom of Morocco, "faithful to the principles and values of fraternity, solidarity and cooperation, is determined, under the leadership of HM King Mohammed VI, to take part in all positive initiatives aimed at developing partnership and cooperation between our countries in mutual respect, good neighborliness and respect for the sovereignty and unity of States," said Benchamach during a high-level Arab conference at the Arab League's headquarters in Cairo.

He stressed that the lessons learned from recent events in the Arab region and worldwide should "constitute an effective lever through the adoption of a proactive strategic vision that places the security, stability and unity of our countries at the top of the list of priorities to meet the challenges of the future".

Benchamach noted that the future will be in the hands of the major blocs, which would require the relaunch and renewal of interregional and regional mechanisms, calling for optimal conditions for the emergence of an integrated Arab bloc through the promotion of national reconciliation and the establishment of effective social mechanisms that consolidate stability and create the conditions for development.

He also stressed the importance of this Arab conference, which should make a tangible contribution to a new chapter in the history of relations between Arab countries, stressing the significant role of cooperation and coordination with the national parliaments of the member States in order to promote and consolidate the process of joint Arab action.
