Morocco is the guest of honor at the 19th edition of the Benin National Handicrafts Fair, held from August 22 to 31 in Cotonou.
This event, which celebrates the excellence and creativity of artisans from several African countries, is marked by the participation of a Moroccan delegation led by the President of the Chamber of Handicrafts of the Rabat-Salé-Kénitra region, Abderrahim Zemzami, according to a statement from the Moroccan Embassy in Cotonou.
The event provides an ideal platform for the Moroccan delegation, which also includes artisans, to share its expertise with local craftsmen, with the aim of enhancing their skills and paving the way for access to regional and international markets.
In a speech delivered on this occasion, Benin’s Minister of Small and Medium Enterprises and Employment Promotion, Modeste Tihounté Kerekou, welcomed Morocco’s participation, stressing the importance of exchanging skills and know-how in the field of handicrafts with countries such as Morocco.
Held under the theme "Beninese Handicrafts: Challenges and Issues of Labeling and Certification of Handicraft Products for Easier Access to Local and International Markets", this edition, which features 150 stands including 20 from foreign countries, reflects Benin’s ambition to elevate its artisanal know-how in line with international standards.
