Morocco was unanimously appointed to host the upcoming ministerial conference of the UN Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA).

The African Ministers of Finance, who met at the Commission's headquarters in Addis Ababa, on May 11-15, welcomed the offer to host the Conference made by Mohamed Boussaid, Minister of Economy and Finance.

The decision to hold this conference for the first time in Morocco shows to the confidence placed by African states and UNECA in the Kingdom, under the leadership of HM King Mohammed VI, and is a recognition of its efforts for an inclusive development in Africa and for strengthening South-South cooperation.

The decision to hold the 52nd conference in 2019 in Morocco was taken by acclamation after deliberations culminated in the adoption of a ministerial declaration for the 51st conference, which notably recognized the potential represented by the African Free Trade Area to boost industrialization, economic diversification and development, and to promote prosperity in the continent.
