
Morocco's Lower House Speaker, Rachid Talbi El Alami, Vice-President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union for Mediterranean (PA-UfM), is taking part in the 9th Summit of Presidents of Parliaments in Malaga on June 26 and 27.
The Parliamentary Assembly of the Union for the Mediterranean is a regional parliamentary organization comprising 43 countries from the northern and southern Mediterranean.
The Summit brings together heads of the legislative institutions of the 27 member states of the European Union, the European Parliament, Albania, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Monaco and Montenegro, and the heads of the 11 parliaments making up the Assembly's southern countries, including Morocco.
Morocco is also taking part in the PA-UfM 18th plenary session inaugurated Thursday by the President of the Spanish Congress of Deputies, Francina Armengol. The meeting brings together the 280 members of the Assembly, deputies or senators from the various member parliaments.
On this occasion, the Assembly's five committees will present their recommendations, based on the work carried out during the year of the presidency.
As the Spanish presidency of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union for the Mediterranean will be brought to a close on June, 27, the closing session will hand over the Presidency to the Egyptian Parliament, which will assume the next 2025-2026 mandate.
