Morocco is ready to open a new page of South-South cooperation with El Salvador, in line with the guidelines of HM King Mohammed VI, Morocco’s minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Nasser Bourita, said Saturday in San Salvador.

"I am here in San Salvador following the instructions of His Majesty the King to reiterate the congratulations of the Sovereign to the new Salvadoran President and to underline the commitment of His Majesty the King to opening a new page in relations between the Kingdom of Morocco and El Salvador”, Bourita pointed out at a joint press briefing with Salvadoran President Nayib Bukele, in the presence of the Kingdom's ambassador to Guatemala and El Salvador, Tarik Louajri.

The withdrawal of the recognition of the so-called "SADR" by the Government of El Salvador corrects an anomaly and a decision that is against international law and paves the way to the strengthening of the partnership between the two countries in all fields, Bourita added.

Morocco and El Salvador have signed an agreement that will strengthen cooperation in key areas, such as tourism, agriculture, water resources management and renewable energy, he said, adding that in these areas, the two countries will develop mutually beneficial projects.

"The message that HM the King has instructed me to convey to the Salvadoran president is that he can count on Morocco as a reliable partner that will strengthen solidarity and pragmatic South-South cooperation with El Salvador," he said.

El Salvador announced Saturday its decision to withdraw its recognition of the so-called "SADR", voicing its support for the territorial integrity of the Kingdom of Morocco, its national sovereignty, as well as the autonomy initiative as the only possible solution to the dispute over the Sahara.
