Foreign Minister : Morocco Reiterates Call on Libyan Parties to Favor Higher Interest and Adhere Seriously to Political Process

Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita reiterated, Wednesday in Rabat, the call of the Kingdom of Morocco on all Libyan parties to favor the higher interest and adhere seriously to the political process.

"Morocco is following with great concern the situation in Libya, mainly in the light of the military escalation at the entrance of the capital Tripoli, the consequences that may ensue in terms of human tragedies and its impact on the stability in this Maghreb country," Bourita said in a statement to the press after his talks with Jumaa al-Qamati, personal envoy of the head of the National Unity Government in Libya Fayez el-Sarraj.

For Morocco, "the military option can only further complicate the situation in Libya and affect the stability and security of citizens," he said, noting that the Kingdom considers that the political process is the best solution to the Libyan crisis.

As a result, dialogue remains the ideal way of dealing with all issues between the different Libyan parties, he stressed.

Bourita also noted that the stability of Libya, the preservation of its territorial integrity and the security of its citizens have always been a priority for HM King Mohammed VI, and have motivated all the initiatives of the Kingdom aimed at bringing the points of view closer and encouraging the signing of the Skhirat agreement, the only one that is unanimously supported today by all Libyans and considered by the Security Council and the international community as a platform for democratic and fluid transition in this brotherly Maghreb country.
