Día Mundial del Té: Marruecos homenajeado en la sede de la FAO en Roma

Morocco’s traditional mint tea ceremony took center stage at the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) headquarters in Rome on Wednesday, as part of International Tea Day celebrations.

The Moroccan tea ritual—seen as a symbol of hospitality and cultural identity—was presented by Morocco’s Permanent Mission to UN agencies in Rome. A traditional Moroccan salon was recreated at the venue, attracting diplomats and senior UN officials, including FAO Director-General Qu Dongyu.

Guests were invited to sample mint tea prepared using traditional methods and served with Moroccan pastries, offering a taste of the country’s culinary heritage.

This year, Morocco was selected by the FAO to represent global tea culture alongside China, Kenya, Russia, Azerbaijan, and Indonesia. The event aims to highlight the role of tea in cultural traditions, agriculture, and sustainable development.

The FAO emphasized the social and cultural value of tea and coffee, particularly as part of the world’s agricultural heritage.
