Morocco, Under HM the King’s Leadership, Puts African Cooperation at Core of Foreign Policy

Morocco, under the leadership of HM King Mohammed VI, has placed African cooperation at the center of its foreign policy and development strategy, Minister of Transport and Logistics Abdessamad Kayouh said Saturday at the Global Transport Connectivity Forum in Istanbul.

Speaking during a session on Africa’s connectivity potential, Kayouh highlighted Morocco’s focus on regional infrastructure projects aimed at advancing continental integration and improving access for landlocked Sahel countries.

He cited the Dakhla Atlantic Port as a key component of the Atlantic Initiative to link sub-Saharan Africa with global markets.

The minister also referenced Morocco’s maritime strategy, presented at the recent “Africa for the Ocean” Summit in Nice, which promotes blue growth, South-South cooperation, and green logistics.

He stressed, in this regard, the importance of developing a national commercial fleet and port infrastructure to support Africa’s connectivity and energy transition goals.

Kayouh called for greater implementation of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), harmonization of transport standards, and stronger investment in cross-border logistics, adding that Morocco is committed to supporting all initiatives that foster a sovereign and integrated Africa.
