Morocco Wins Nine Medals at M’diq International Nautical Week

Moroccan sailors delivered a standout performance at the 21st International Nautical Week in M’diq, taking home nine medals — three gold, three silver, and three bronze — in various sailing categories.

   Gold medals were awarded to Mohamed Dadach (ILCA-4), Hatim Chairi (Optimist), and Safaa Azor (youngest participant), while silver went to Dadi Akram, Hajar Amari, and Khadija Idrissi. Bronze winners included Saad Quabil, Lola Belizón López, and Abderrazak Elmoustatir.

   The event, held under the High Patronage of HM King Mohammed VI, brought together athletes from 15 countries and was organized by the Royal Yacht Club of M’diq in partnership with the Ministry of Sports and the Royal Moroccan Sailing Federation.

   The closing ceremony was attended by senior officials and sports figures, including Arab Sailing Federation President Sheikh Khalifa bin Abdulla Al Khalifa.

   Spain’s Felipe Vicenerón and Portugal’s Fabio Baptista Tome won the Throne Trophies in the ORC and Open categories, respectively.

   Organizers praised the level of competition and record participation, noting improved weather conditions boosted the quality of races.

   The M’diq International Nautical Week has grown into a key event on the Arab sailing calendar, promoting high-level competition while supporting regional tourism along Tamuda Bay.
