
Moroccan international Achraf Hakimi is named on the 2025 Ballon d'Or shortlist, a distinction recognizing the best football players worldwide.
For the first time of his career, the right back of the Moroccan team and French club Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) is featured among 30 players on the shortlist published Thursday, ahead of the award ceremony on September 22.
The 26 year-old defender renown for his valiant contributions in attack, both with his national team and club, boasts a record of 63 matches, 13 goals and 15 assists during the 2024-2025 season.
This year with PSG, he won the Champions League, Ligue 1, Coupe de France and Trophée des Champions. He was also a finalist at the Club World Cup in United States.
Morocco's goalkeeper Yassine Bounou has in turn been shortlisted for the Yashin Trophy, which rewards the world's best goalkeeper, following a remarkable 2024-2025 season with 56 appearances and 20 clean-sheets.
