The Alaouite Organization for the Protection of the Blind in Morocco (OAPAM) is taking part in the 2nd African Conference of the International Council for Education of People with Visual Impairment (ICEVI Africa), held in Johannesburg from September 28 to October 2 under the theme "Towards 2030: Actualising Inclusion, Innovation and Impact in Education of Persons With Visual Impairment.
Represented by its Secretary-General Salaheddine Semmar and Director of its teaching institutes and training centers Abderrazak Boughenbour, OAPAM is contributing to discussions on inclusive education, training, assistive technologies and artificial intelligence, accessible educational resources, early intervention and cooperation among relevant sectors.
The conference also highlighted the importance of implementing and expanding the ratification of the Marrakesh Treaty to facilitate cross-border access to books and educational materials in accessible formats.
OAPAM’s participation, under the presidency of Princess Lalla Lamia Essolh, is an opportunity to showcase Morocco’s experience in the education and training of blind and visually impaired people, exchange expertise and strengthen international cooperation in support of greater inclusion and autonomy.
