
The national colloquium on the parliament and the Moroccan Sahara issue kicked off on Monday at Morocco's upper house at the initiative of the Temporary Thematic Working Group on Territorial Integrity.
This initiative is part of the Temporary Working Group's agenda, which includes a series of activities such as hearing sessions, workshops, the follow-up of contributions and academic work carried out by bodies dealing with the issue of the Moroccan Sahara, as well as the study of a rich documentary collection covering the various aspects of the subject.
This meeting takes place against the backdrop of the ongoing momentum of achievements and progress made by the Kingdom to reach a definitive settlement of the artificial dispute over the Moroccan Sahara.
It also falls in line with the mobilization preserve these gains, as parliamentary diplomacy constitutes a major front to reinforce the international momentum of support for this national question.
Themed "Parliament and the Moroccan Sahara issue: for efficient parallel diplomacy and effective institutional advocacy," the conference will culminate in a report containing conclusions and recommendations drawn up by political, academic and civil society players, as well as experts on the issue.
The Temporary Thematic Working Group on Territorial Integrity was put in place under the provisions of the House of Councillors' rules of procedure.
