Rabat Hosts 1st North Africa Smart Infrastructure Summit

The inaugural edition of the "North Africa Smart Infrastructure Summit" opened on Wednesday in Rabat, aiming to support infrastructure development efforts in the region.

Organized by Verve Management, an international platform for exchange and reflection, the event brings together opinion leaders, experts, and decision-makers to explore development prospects in the field of smart infrastructure in the region, particularly in Morocco.

This two-day summit aims to showcase the Kingdom’s progress in real estate, sports infrastructure, airports, transportation, and hospitality, while examining innovative strategies in anticipation of upcoming milestones.

Speaking on the occasion, Minister of Equipment and Water Nizar Baraka noted that the choice of the summit’s theme aligns with the Kingdom’s strategic priorities. He emphasized that infrastructure development constitutes a fundamental pillar of Morocco’s major transformations ahead of future sporting events and serves as a lever to address the growing challenges posed by climate change.

In this regard, Morocco adopts flexible and sustainable approaches in planning and executing infrastructure projects to cope with the effects of climatic disruptions experienced by the country, such as periods of drought and irregular precipitation, the minister observed.

Meanwhile, Minister of Transport and Logistics Abdessamad Kayouh emphasized that his ministry pays particular attention to innovation and scientific research, which are essential drivers for sector development and competitiveness enhancement.

In this context, the ministry works to strengthen partnerships with universities and research centers to develop modern technological solutions in transportation and logistics, in line with Morocco’s ongoing digital transition, he stated in a speech read on his behalf by the ministry’s Secretary General, Zine El Abidine Britel.
