Rabat Hosts Regional Workshop on Electronic Advance Data for Postal Services

Morocco on Tuesday launched a regional workshop on electronic advance data (EAD) for postal services, bringing together representatives from 11 Arab countries in partnership with the Universal Postal Union (UPU).

Held from April 22 to 24 in Rabat, the workshop is organized by Barid Al-Maghrib and the UPU and aims to enhance the technical skills of postal operators in the region. Participants will receive hands-on training in UPU digital systems, including the Customs Declaration System (CDS) and the International Postal System (IPS), Barid Al-Maghrib said in a press release.

Barid Al-Maghrib Director General Amin Benjelloun Touimi said the event aligns with Morocco’s broader push to modernize public services through digital transformation, emphasizing the importance of adopting international standards to improve postal service quality.

The initiative reflects Barid Al-Maghrib’s commitment to supporting the digital transformation of the postal sector and contributing to regional integration efforts led by the UPU, the press release added.

In addition to Morocco, participating countries include Djibouti, Iraq, Jordan, Mauritania, Palestine, Sudan, Oman, Syria, Tunisia and Yemen.
