The city of Tangier, which boasts a strategic geographical position facing the Strait of Gibraltar, is fast-tracking growth through structural projects, particularly in sports and ports, the Italpress agency writes.
“In recent years, the city (of Tangier) has accelerated its growth by focusing on logistics and infrastructure,” the Italian news agency, noting that football is one of the drivers of this growth, as well as Tanger Med, which, despite already being the largest port in Africa and the Mediterranean, continues to expand.
Italpress also highlights the high-speed rail line connecting Casablanca, Rabat, and Tangier, adding that the stated goal for the 2030 World Cup is to further extend the line to Marrakech.
According to the Italian media, Morocco is already gearing up for the Africa Cup of Nations scheduled for next December, noting that this will serve as proving ground for what promises to be a historic event for the Kingdom, co-organizer of the 2030 World Cup with Spain and Portugal.
The Grand Stade de Tanger, a true gem undergoing renovation, is set to host the Africa Cup of Nations while already looking ahead to the World Cup, an event followed worldwide that the city of the Strait intends to honor, the outlet points out.
