Thanks to the enlightened vision of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, the Kingdom of Morocco is today establishing itself as "Africa’s leading country", stated Christian Cambon, President of the France-Morocco Friendship Group in the French Senate.
In an interview with MAP–Paris on the occasion of the celebration of the glorious Throne Day, Cambon noted that Morocco is playing an increasingly "prominent" role on the African continent, highlighting the Kingdom’s ability to adapt to new realities, act in favor of peace, and position itself as a true driver of development in Africa.
The Sovereign’s farsighted vision, he added, has significantly strengthened cooperation between Morocco and France, a cooperation that has been further solidified by France’s support for the Kingdom’s sovereignty over its Sahara.
"Franco-Moroccan relations are currently at their best and may have never before reached the level of quality and influence they enjoy today," stressed the French senator.
This significant progress, he added, is also the result of joint efforts, notably through the active involvement of the Senate and the friendship group. He expressed satisfaction that the French President Emmanuel Macron’s state visit to Morocco, at the invitation of His Majesty the King, led to the signing of several dozen agreements currently being implemented, reflecting the diversity of bilateral cooperation.
Morocco and France share "a strong partnership", through the Francophonie, robust economic ties, and close collaboration in security and defense, particularly in addressing threats linked to the destabilization of the southern Sahel, he said.
"Under the leadership of His Majesty the King, major relations in this domain are multiplying, and we are particularly pleased with this,"Cambon added.
Referring to the friendship group’s recent visits to several cities in Morocco, the senator underscored the vital role of parliamentary diplomacy in advancing Morocco-France relations.
This momentum, he concluded, will continue during the upcoming France–Morocco Inter-Parliamentary Forum, to be held in the Kingdom and bringing together representatives from both chambers of the two countries.
