UM6P's New U.S. Global Hub will Strengthen Ties between Morocco, Africa and the United States

The new Global Hub of the Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P) in the United States, inaugurated Monday in New York, will contribute to strengthening and diversifying ties between Morocco, Africa and America, as well as with the rest of the world, underlined Morocco's Ambassador to the United States, Youssef Amrani.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony of this new UM6P branch, Amrani noted that this hub of excellence will connect African talents and research ecosystems with international academic, entrepreneurial and industrial partners, and will enable the establishment of an ecosystem "where innovation knows no boundaries".

“This is more than an academic venture; it is an investment in human capital and collaboration. Through steady choices and partnerships, Morocco has become a connector of Africa to the world, and the world to Africa”, he pointed out.

This Hub established in New York, crossroad of ideas, cultures, capital, and talent, is one such bridge where talent circulates, research becomes enterprise, a bridge that allows the U.S. and Morocco to co-create solutions with global impact, noting that UM6P embodies this dynamic since it is a solutions-oriented university, serving applied science, innovation, entrepreneurship, and impact in agriculture, water, energy, industry, digital technology, and climate.

Speaking to the members of the Moroccan community established in the United States who attended this ceremony, Ambassador Amrani underlined the skills and expertise of Moroccan expatriates. “Your expertise is a strategic asset. Become mentors, co-investors, co-authors, facilitators of internships and projects. You are our network builders, carrying knowledge, ties, and opportunities across continents”, he said.

To the American partners, the diplomat proposed "moving to operational implementation: joint laboratories, endowed chairs and dual degrees, student and faculty mobility, industrial pilots in Africa, and bidirectional technology transfers". He also called for creating innovation corridors where African solutions meet global markets, and global expertise meets African challenges.

“Our ambition is clear: to educate, innovate, and build together, with measurable results, for the benefit of our societies. This is not about one-way knowledge transfer, it is about mutual enrichment”, he concluded.

The inauguration ceremony was marked by the presence of Morocco's Permanent Representative to the UN, Ambassador Omar Hilale, and several American figures from the world of academia and business.

With offices in New York and Cambridge (Massachusetts), the new UM6P Global Hub will connect African talent and research ecosystems with global academic, entrepreneurial, and industrial partners. It aims at deepening existing partnerships and developing new collaborations with U.S. universities and research centers and at opening structured pathways for joint research projects and academic exchanges.
