UNSG personal envoy for the Moroccan Sahara, former German president, Horst Köhler invited all parties, Morocco, Algeria, the polisario and Mauritania, to a second round-table meeting in the Swiss city of Geneva on March 21-22, 2019.

This second round-table meeting follows a first one held in Geneva on Dec. 5-6 and attended by Morocco, Algeria, the polisario and Mauritania.

According to well-informed sources in Geneva, the personal envoy sent similar invitation letters to Morocco, Algeria, the polisario and Mauritania to take part in the second round-table meeting of Geneva on March 21-22, underlining that the UNSC encouraged Morocco, Algeria, the polisario and Mauritania, in its resolution 2440, to work constructively with the personal envoy, in a spirit of compromise, throughout the process to ensure its success.

The UNSC had welcomed, in its resolution 2440 adopted on Oct. 29, 2018, the decisions taken by Morocco, Algeria, the polisario and Mauritania to accept the invitation sent by the UN Secretary-General personal envoy for the Moroccan Sahara to take part in the first round-table meeting of Geneva on Dec. 5-6, 2018.
