Women in UN Peacekeeping Operations: Training Session for Women Soldiers from 14 Countries Wraps up in Agadir

A training session for women in UN military peacekeeping operations, ended on Friday, at the headquarters of the General Staff of the Royal Armed Forces (FAR) of the South Zone in Agadir.

The closing of this training, held on the High Instructions of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, Supreme Commander and Chief of General Staff of the FAR, was marked by a ceremony of certificates handing for the benefit of the participants, in the presence of Major General Mohammed Benlouali, Chief of Staff of the South Zone.

This three-week session was attended by 23 military women of 14 nationalities, particularly from Africa, as well as France, Germany and Canada.

It fits within the framework of a triangular partnership between Morocco, France and the UN.

This training aims to empower military women and prepare them for full command responsibilities in UN peacekeeping operations, and consolidate the triangular cooperation in order to reinforce the leadership of women at the service of international peace and security.

Speaking to MAP, military women of several nationalities have highlighted the importance of the participation in this training session at the headquarters of the South Zone General Staff in Agadir to strengthen their leadership skills and capacities with a view to a sustainable and inclusive peace.

This training program which was articulated around several modules, was elaborated by UN-Women, the UN Department of Peace Operations and the FAR with the participation of international experts.
