HM King Mohammed VI, Commander Of The Faithful, Chairs Religious Evening Commemorating Laylat Al-Qadr

HM King Mohammed VI, Commander of the Faithful, accompanied by HRH Prince Moulay Rachid and HH Prince Moulay Ismail, chaired, on Thursday at the Mohammed VI Mosque in Oujda, a religious ceremony to commemorate Laylat Al Qadr (26th day of Ramadan).

Following Al Icha and Taraouih prayers, the child Zakaria El Baz (9 years, from Casablanca), recipient of the Mohammed VI national prize for Koran’s memorizing and psalmody, recited verses of the Holy Koran before receiving an award handed by the Sovereign.

This distinction reflects the deep interest which HM King Mohammed VI, Commander of the Faithful, lavishes on the orators of the Holy Koran and the desire of the Sovereign to promote learning and memorization of the Holy Book among the younger generations.

Subsequently, Mohamed Mokhtar Al Mufti El Hassani, Professor at the Al-Albayt University (Jordan), delivered a speech before the Sovereign on behalf of the Ulema who participated in the religious lectures of the holy month of Ramadan 1435, in which they express their heartfelt thanks and profound gratitude to HM the King for having been invited to take part in these lectures.

The professor underlined that these blessed lectures bring together the elite of the Muslim Ummah scholars, and have become, under the royal solicitude, a civilizational religious tribune for scholars from all corners of the world to tap this inexhaustible source.

The religious evening was marked by "Khatm Sahih Al-Boukhari", by Lahcen Errahmouni, member of the local Ulema council of Oujda.

The Sovereign later awarded the Mohammed VI Prize of "Ahl Al-Quraan" and "Ahl Al-Hadith" respectively to Abdellah Abou Ataâ Allah, member of the local Ulema council of Beni Mellal and Mohamed Serrar, professor of Hadith Sharif at the Sharia Faculty of Fes.

The Monarch also handed the award Mohammed VI of Koranic schools to Mohamed El Qissi, Imam at the Al Hait Lalla Mimouna mosque in Souk Larbaâ El Gharb (the learning methodology prize) and to Zakaria Essahraoui, imam and khatib at the "Ouled Zid II" mosque in Sidi Yahya El Gharb (performance prize).

This religious evening was held in the presence of the head of government, presidents of both Houses of parliament, Advisors to HM the King, government officials, representatives of the diplomatic corps of Islamic countries accredited to Morocco, senior officers the General Staff of the Royal Armed Forces, the Ulema who participated in the religious lectures of the holy month of Ramadan, elected officials, as well as civil and military figures.
