El Consejo Nacional del MP encomienda al SG proseguir las consultas políticas y tomar la decisión apropiada sobre la participación en el próximo Gobierno

The National Council of the Popular Movement (MP) on Saturday mandated the party’s Secretary-General, Mohamed Ouzzine, to continue political consultations and take the appropriate decision regarding the MP’s participation in the next government.

In a communiqué issued following its extraordinary session, the National Council stressed that this decision takes into account, first and foremost, the supreme interest of the Nation and service to citizens, while also considering the party’s responsibility, constants, principles and political commitments.

The communiqué noted that any political positioning by the party should enable the Popular Movement to play an influential and active role within institutions, in order to defend citizens’ concerns, contribute to the formulation of public policies and translate its commitments to voters into concrete positions, initiatives and programs.

The National Council also noted that, despite a decline in several of its traditional electoral strongholds, the party has maintained its position on the national electoral scene, considering that this result reflects the continuity of its political presence and institutional roots.

Speaking to the press following the session, the party’s National Council President, Adil Sebbaï, said the meeting was devoted to assessing the results of the September 23 legislative elections and examining the political phase opened by consultations launched following the appointment of the new Head of Government.

He added that in-depth discussions among Council members resulted in the decision to task the Secretary-General with conducting the consultations and political negotiations related to this stage.

For his part, Ouzzine emphasized that this decision was the outcome of a "sincere, responsible and constructive" debate within the party’s parliamentary body, which took into account the Popular Movement’s electoral and political weight.

He also stressed that the session was "exceptional in every respect," both in terms of participation and mobilization and the nature of the positions expressed to guide the party’s choices during the next phase.
