The African Air Transport Convention and Exposition (AFCAC Expo 2026) opened on Monday in Lomé, with the participation of a Moroccan delegation led by Minister of Transport and Logistics Abdessamad Kayouh.
The Moroccan delegation also includes Ambassador of Morocco to Benin and Togo Rachid Rguibi, Director General of the National Airports Office Adel El Fakir, and Chairman and CEO of Royal Air Maroc Abdelhamid Addou.
Initiated by the African Civil Aviation Commission (AFCAC), in partnership with the African Union (AU) under the theme "Single African sky and sustainable air transport development", this event aims to boost the Single African Air Transport Market (SAATM), an initiative launched by the AU in 2018 to liberalize African skies and strengthen connectivity among its countries.
This meeting, whose opening ceremony was attended by President of the Council of the Republic of Togo Faure Gnassingbé and President of Rwanda Paul Kagame, will conclude with the Lomé Ministerial Declaration and the launch of an African platform for the development of cooperation mechanisms aimed at strengthening the integration of the African air market.
On the agenda of this meeting (June 15-19), which brings together ministers, directors of civil aviation authorities, airlines, investors and experts, are bilateral meetings, exhibitions and plenary sessions on themes such as "accelerating the reduction of African air transport cost", "strengthening African airlines for resilience, competitiveness, trade and connectivity", "advancing investment partnerships in the air transport industry and infrastructure in Africa", and "the digital transformation of the sector".
