Azoulay: Essaouira, Valuable Asset for Future Economy

"The time has come for Essaouira to take the right measure of its assets to transform them into opportunities for efficient, competitive and sustainable investments," said Wednesday Andre Azoulay, Advisor to HM the King and President-Founder of the Essaouira-Mogador Association.

Speaking at the opening of a virtual meeting on investment, organized by the French Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Morocco (CFCIM) in partnership with the Province of Essaouira, Essaouira Innovation Lab and the Essaouira-Mogador Association, Azoulay highlighted "the double rendezvous that history can give to Essaouira with, on the one hand, the radical change that will experience the economic, industrial and commercial landscape for the post-Covid days and, on the other hand, the accentuated focus of tomorrow's investors in the direction of clean industries, bio products and the optimization of various sectors of renewable energy".

"Essaouira can legitimately aspire to a place of choice in this economy of the future," said HM the King's Advisor, recalling that the province of Essaouira "enjoys one of the highest rates of sunshine in our country,” (…) in addition to more than 150 km of coastline, which constituted a promising mix for the energy of the future.”

Azoulay also highlighted "the local and niche products that are the basis of the attractiveness and uniqueness of Essaouira whether the exceptional richness of the province's fisheries, the galaxy of argan trees and the historical roots of organic farming among local farmers”.

"Health and wellness tourism, backed by the cultural and heritage contents that are already the major asset of Essaouira, could also give another dimension and a promising future to this destination,” he stressed.
