Combating Violence against Women: New Instructions During State of Health Emergency (Presidency of Public Prosecutor's Office)
The public prosecutor at the Court of cassation, president of the public prosecutor's office, on Thursday issued new instructions within the framework of combating violence against women during the state of health emergency decreed in the Kingdom.
These instructions are contained in a circular from the president of the public prosecutor's office concerning cases of violence against women during the period of health emergency in the Kingdom and the new instructions to combat this phenomenon.
The circular was addressed to the first advocate-general at the Court of cassation, public prosecutors at the Courts of appeal and commercial Courts of appeal and public prosecutors at the Courts of first instance and commercial Courts.
In the circular, the president of the public prosecutor's office called for the development of digital or smartphone platforms for receiving complaints of violence against women, within the limits of the material and logistical capacities available.
He also urged that complaints and denunciations relating to cases of violence against women be given due attention and priority in their treatment, in addition to the implementation of the protection measures stipulated by law for women, depending on the situations requiring protection.
The circular stressed the need to ensure that the interests of children are protected, aiming at the stability of families and the coexistence of their members in accordance with human rights principles that give women a prominent place within the family and social fabric, as well as the opening of public trials - if necessary - at the appropriate time and with the necessary firmness.
