
Morocco won, on Sunday in Marrakech, the Africa and Middle East Women Chefs Cup (Morjane Halima Trophy), one of the flagship competitions of the 11th edition of the International CREMAI Fair, held under the High Patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI.
Created to promote Moroccan and African gastronomy, this trophy pays tribute to women chefs and aims to encourage excellence, creativity, and the transmission of culinary know-how.
The event also serves as a showcase highlighting the role of women in the food service professions and enhancing their visibility on the international stage.
Saudi Arabia ranked second, followed by Tunisia, at the end of a competition that allowed participants from several countries to showcase their creativity and expertise.
In a statement to MAP, the Moroccan laureate, Meryem Diwane, expressed her great pride in carrying the Kingdom’s colors high, stressing that this victory "celebrates the richness and diversity of Morocco’s culinary heritage."
This trophy is a tribute to the country’s gastronomic traditions while demonstrating Moroccan chefs’ ability to innovate and impress on the international scene, she noted, adding that the victory is dedicated "to all those who believe in the power of excellence and perseverance."
For his part, the founding president of CREMAI, Kamal Rahal Essoulami, underlined that this trophy confirms Morocco’s leadership in gastronomy and showcases its ability to position itself as an African and international hub for hospitality.
He emphasized the importance of such competitions in strengthening the Kingdom’s image as a key player in the food service industry.
Launched in 2004, CREMAI has established itself as an essential platform for hospitality in Africa. This 11th edition, part of a strategic vision looking ahead to 2030, aims to structure Morocco’s ambition, initiate the sector’s transformation, and prepare the ground for comprehensive modernization, combining digitalization, sustainability, and culinary excellence.
