El Guerguerat: Chilean Media Highlights Support of African and South American Countries for Morocco
The Chilean news site "El Periodista" highlighted on Monday the broad support of African and South American countries for Morocco's intervention in El Guerguerat to restore free movement in this border crossing with Mauritania.
The Chilean media underlined the position of the government of the Republic of Liberia which expressed a firm position in favor of the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Morocco, as did the Republic of Sao Tome and Príncipe which expressed "its support and solidarity with the peaceful actions undertaken by the Kingdom".
In Latin America, the Committee on Foreign Relations at the Chamber of Deputies of Paraguay lauded the actions and sovereign measures taken by Morocco which made it possible to restore free civil and commercial movement at the border post of El Guerguerat, reiterating its "full support for the Moroccan autonomy initiative as the only political solution to this artificial conflict over the Moroccan Sahara, wrote "El Periodista".
The news site also focused on the position of the government of the Republic of Guatemala, which called for restraint and respect for Security Council resolutions, emphasizing the need to "refrain from any act of provocation that would harm the economic and commercial interests in the region".
