Morocco's minister of foreign affairs and cooperation, Saad Dine El Otmani, highlighted on Sunday in Paris the leading role played by HM King Mohammed VI in defending the cause of Al Qud Asharid and of preserving its legal status.

     The official told MAP following a meeting of the Arab commission in charge of the Palestinian issue, held in the French capital in the presence of US secretary of state, John Kerry and Arab league secretary general, Nabil Al Arabi, he stressed before participants the Sovereign's sustained and untiring efforts for the triumph of the Palestinian cause.

    El Otmani also recalled that Morocco has repeatedly denounced Israel's persistence in its settlement policy meant to alter the demographic nature of the city and wipe out its Arab and Islamic identity, in total violation of international law and the road map for peace in the Middle East.

      The US secretary of state informed Arab foreign ministers, present in the Paris meeting, of latest development in the US administration initiative to re-launch negotiations between Palestinians and Israelis, said the foreign minister who also explained that the meeting was not meant to reach any agreement on resumption of the peace process in the meeting, but was convened to allow each party to give its vision and express its concerns as to the situation in the Middle east.

      The meeting took place in the presence of foreign ministers of Morocco, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Egypt, Palestine, Jordan and Kuwait's permanent delegate to the Arab League.
