Great Progress Made In Negotiations To Renew Morocco-EU Fishing Agrement -Minister

MAP- Moroccan minister of agriculture and marine fisheries, Aziz Akhannouch, said, Tuesday in Rabat, that negotiations over the renewal of the fisheries agreement between Morocco and the European Union (EU) have made great progress.

Akhannouch said the negotiations focus on two aspects. The first is technical and takes into account the maritime potential of Morocco and the technical opportunities  the sector and Moroccan professionals wield, while the second is political and provides for a perfect coordination with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation in order to ensure Moroccan rights.

The minister underlined that the EU is a key partner for Morocco, being the largest importer of Moroccan fisheries products with 240 thousand tonnes per year, valued at 9.30 billion dirhams.
