House of Representatives Voices Solidarity with Palestinian Prisoners

Members of the House of Representatives expressed, on Monday on the occasion of the Palestinian Prisoner Day, their unconditional solidarity with the Palestinian detainees languishing in Israeli jails.

During a plenary session for oral questions, the House of Representatives reiterated the positions of Morocco in support of the Palestinian cause, especially in this difficult juncture.

This day is an opportunity for the lower house to pay tribute to the determination, fight and sacrifices of the Palestinian people to face the inhumane practices and abuses committed by the Israeli occupation forces, given that the Palestinian prisoner is a symbol of resistance.

The deputies also affirmed that the celebration of the Palestinian Prisoner Day is an occasion to laud the initiatives by HM King Mohammed VI, chairperson of the Al Quds Committee, recalling the Sovereign's initiative to give a grant, as a contribution of Morocco, to restore some areas of the Al Aqsa Mosque and its environment.

All the components of the Moroccan people consider the Palestinian question as a central issue, they noted, expressing their willingness to support all initiatives, official and popular, to back up the fight of the Palestinian people to counter the practices and violations committed by the Israeli authorities and help the Palestinians to establish their independent state with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital.

The deputies also welcomed the initiatives taken by the House of Representatives, majority and opposition, mainly the creation of a thematic working group on the Palestinian cause, stressing the importance of the role that parliamentary diplomacy can play in supporting Morocco's efforts to assist the Palestinian people in their legitimate fight.
