Her Royal Highness Princess Lalla Asmaa, President of the Lalla Asmaa Foundation, and Her Excellency Rachel Ruto, First Lady of the Republic of Kenya and President of the "Voice of Children Initiative" Foundation, visited Kenyan and Moroccan children on Tuesday at the Mohammed VI International University Hospital in Rabat who have received cochlear implants, as part of the 4th phase of the international program "United, We Hear Each Other Better" and the national campaign "NASMAA."
The Kenyan patients are among 100 children suffering from profound deafness covered under the 4th phase of the "United, We Hear Each Other Better" program launched in the Kenyan capital on November 5, 2025 by HRH Princess Lalla Asmaa and Rachel Ruto. The program provides cochlear implants to 70 children in Nairobi and hosts, in Morocco, 30 other children for the same implant, ten of which have benefited in Morocco from the same care trajectory reserved for Moroccan patients.
In line with the humanistic and solidarity-driven Vision of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist Him, for active and robust South-South cooperation, the implementation of this 4th phase of the "Together, We Hear Each Other Better" program allows young people to discover the world of sound, communicate, learn, thrive, and transfer skills.
It also reflects the Vision championed by His Majesty King Mohammed VI, which Her Royal Highness Princess Lalla Asmaa makes sure to implement on the ground: that of a supportive, active and inspiring Morocco that creates, innovates, and shares —a Morocco that does not seek to grow alone, but to grow alongside others.
Through this cooperation approach led by the Foundation under the impetus of HRH Princess Lalla Asmaa, 100 deaf children from Kenya have benefited from Moroccan expertise, as they join hundreds of children from 22 countries across Africa, the Middle East, and Latin America.
This model of cooperation, stemming from the Will of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God preserve Him, to place the Kingdom’s expertise and experience at the disposal of sister nations, manifests daily through the steadfast commitment of Her Royal Highness Princess Lalla Asmaa, who personally oversees the Foundation's programs, patient care, and strategic partnerships.
Alongside the "United, We Hear Each Other Better" program, the Foundation is continuing the implementation of the national "NASMAA" campaign through its simultaneous deployment across five cities—Rabat, Casablanca, Fez, Marrakesh and Oujda—and five hospital facilities. This new campaign has enabled 1,050 Moroccan patients to receive implants free of charge, crossing the 1,000-patient mark and including adult recipients for the first time (aged 56 in Marrakesh, and 41 and 62 in Fez).
Upon their arrival at the Mohammed VI International University Hospital in Rabat, HRH Princess Lalla Asmaa and Rachel Ruto reviewed a detachment of the Auxiliary Forces providing honors, before being greeted by the Ambassador of Kenya to the Kingdom of Morocco, Jessica Gakinya; the Wali of the Rabat-Salé-Kenitra region and Governor of Rabat Prefecture, Mohamed Yacoubi; as well as the Wali and Coordinator of the National Initiative for Human Development (INDH), Mohamed Derdouri.
HRH Princess Lalla Asmaa and the First Lady of the Republic of Kenya were also greeted by the Ambassador and Director General of the Moroccan Agency for International Cooperation (AMCI), Mohamed Methqal; the Delegate President of the Lalla Asmaa Foundation, Karim Essakalli; the CEO of the National Radio and Television Company (SNRT), Faiçal Laraichi, and the CEO of Royal Air Maroc, Abdelhamid Addou.
Her Royal Highness Princess Lalla Asmaa and Rachel Ruto were further greeted by the Managing Director of the Mohammed VI Foundation for Science and Health, Youns Bjijou; the Director General of the Mohammed VI International University Hospital of Rabat, Abdelmajid Moussaoui; and the hospital's Medical Director, Hicham Benyoussef.
