Morocco to Host First-Ever ISF World School Golf Championship

Under the Effective Presidency of His Royal Highness Prince Moulay Rachid, the Royal Moroccan Golf Federation (RMGF) and the Hassan II Golf Trophy Association, in collaboration with the Ministry of National Education, Preschool and Sports, and the Royal Moroccan Federation of School Sports (RMFSS), announced the inaugural edition of the ISF World School Golf Championship (WSGC) taking place from July 14 to 21 at the Royal Golf Dar Es Salam in Rabat. 

This unprecedented event, which will be held in partnership with the International School Sport Federation (ISF), is a new international golf competition reserved for athletes from the school system, the FRMG said in a press release on Monday. 

Young players from Europe, Africa, Asia, the Americas, and the Middle East, representing 17 countries and regions, will participate in this competition officially included in the ISF calendar.

The competition will be played on the Blue Course of the Royal Golf Dar Es Salam in a 72-hole stroke play format (18 holes per day), preceded by two official practice rounds and a dedicated to education and culture.

The championship features five competitions: Four individual events (U18 and U15, boys and girls), one team event (four players per delegation, with the best three scores counted daily). 

According to the same source, winners in each category will be crowned "ISF Golf" Champions for one year and awarded official medals. The top team will earn the title of ISF World School Golf Champion.

The President of the organizing committee, Ali Bensouda, Treasurer General of the RMGF, stated that hosting this inaugural edition in Morocco reflects the vision of HRH Prince Moulay Rachid, who has always placed youth at the heart of the national golf development strategy. 

"It embodies our ambition to position golf as a tool for education, transmission, and excellence," he pointed out. 

For his part, the ISF president, Zeljko Tanasković, emphasized that the organisation of the first-ever ISF World School Golf Championship in Morocco marks a historic milestone for the international school sport movement. 

"It represents the official inclusion of golf in the ISF programme and clearly reflects our commitment to diversifying sporting opportunities for young student-athletes worldwide," he said. 

In that sense, Antony Scanlon, Executive Director of the IGF expressed that he was delighted to see Morocco take a leading role in promoting golf among youth. 

According to him, the RMGF has brought together the right partners to ensure the success of this ambitious initiative, which perfectly aligns with the values of the IGF: international development, sportsmanship, and friendship through golf.

The WSGC will also be held in Morocco in 2026 and 2028, reinforcing the Kingdom’s long-term commitment to youth development and international school sport, as part of the ISF World School Championships series, the press release concludes.
