Morocco, An Indispensable Partner In The Management Of Migration Flows In The Mediterranean (Expert)

Coordinator of the Dialogue on Mediterranean Transit Migration (MTM), Monica Zanette, said that Morocco is an "indispensable partner" in the management of migration flows in the Mediterranean, owing to the considerable efforts made by the Kingdom in this field.

The MTM coordinator commended Morocco's "deep action" to address the migration problem and the success of the initiative taken by HM King Mohammed VI to devise a new comprehensive policy in this matter.

This new initiative shows that Morocco has fully comprehended various aspects of the migration phenomenon, and is fully resolved and committed to find efficient and sustainable solutions to this issue, she went on.

She also praised the level of Morocco's cooperation with other countries and regional and international relevant institutions, citing, particularly Morocco's commitment with the European Union in the frame of the "partnership for mobility" and its leading role in the high-level dialogue held recently in New York.

The MTM coordinator made the statement on the sidelines of the 9th meeting held this November 28-29 in Istanbul of experts of MTM i-MAP, an interactive instrument at the service of MTM partner states for the purpose of exchanging information on the migratory situation in states around the Mediterranean and supporting the development and implementation of cooperation initiatives.

The MTM i-Map provides both a visualisation of the situation along with a presentation of the threats and risks faced by the MTM Arab and European partner states.
