Morocco Officially Protests Against Algeria's Turning Back Syrian Refugees, Including Women And Children, On Several Occasions

Morocco condemned, on Tuesday, the tragic situation of Syrian refugees turned back by Algeria, including women and children, and officially protested to this country's authorities against turning back these refugees on several occasions which runs counter the principles of good neighborliness as advocated by the Kingdom.

The Moroccan authorities noted the multiplying operations, recently, of turning back Syrian refugees (as was the case of sub-Saharans in the past) by the Algerian authorities towards the Moroccan territory through its eastern borders, said a statement by the Interior ministry.

The ministry said that for the period ranging from January 26 to 28, 2014, the Algerian authorities turned back 77 Syrian nationals, including 18 women and 43 children (some aged under two months).
