Participants in the 5th World Sufism Congress, which wrapped up on Wednesday in Fez, called for the creation of a world alliance of Sufism adepts, in order to convey the word of truth, promote Islam’s authentic values and counter fallacious discourse.
This congress, which gathered scholars from around the globe, underlined the need to promote world peace by spreading the values of authentic Islam, founded on human enlightenment.
Participants also called for the integration of purification science (Tazkia) as an essential discipline in school and educational programs.
Particular emphasis was placed on the importance of Tazkia in preserving nations and strengthening the Ummah on the economic, social and ethical fronts.
They also called for reforming the Sufi path by purifying it from any form of bid’a (reprehensible innovation) and from any elements foreign to its essence, to preserve its authenticity and its spiritual role in the face of contemporary challenges.
Speaking to MAP, the president of the International Academic Center of Sufi and Aesthetic Studies, Aziz El Kobaiti Idrissi Al Hassani, emphasized the importance of creating a world alliance and implementing a system based on the principle of purification (Tazkia), adding that world peace can only be achieved by undertaking the path of internal peace.
He added that a number of eminent professors and scholars taking part in the congress unanimously praised the success of this edition, which managed to highlight the quality of the conferences and research works presented, as well as the wealth and depth of debates during the congress.
