Morocco, Gabon sign five cooperation agreements

Morocco and Gabon signed, on Thursday in Rabat, five cooperation agreements on mainly customs services, country planning and people's movement.

The agreements were signed by foreign minister Saad Dine El Otmani and Gabonese peer Emmanuel Issoze Ngondet following the 6th Moroccan-Gabonese joint committee.

They concern administrative mutual assistance on customs services, cooperation in country planning and reciprocal recognition of driving licenses.

The two ministers also signed an agreement on the elimination of visas for ordinary passports and a memorandum of understanding between the two countries' academies.

The joint committee wrapped up its session with the issuing of a joint statement.

In a statement on the occasion, El Otmani said that this session falls within the framework of reinforcing the ties of friendship, brotherhood and cooperation between Morocco and Gabon in conformity with the orientations of HM King Mohammed VI and His excellency President Ali Bongo Ondimba.

The session, following the official visit by HM the King to Gabon in March 2013 and the visits by President Ali Bongo Ondimba since he took office in 2010, shows the genuine political will to give momentum to the Moroccan-Gabonese cooperation and make it a real strategic partnership, he added.
