MoU Signed in Rabat between Moroccan and Palestinian Prosecutors Offices

Morocco and Palestine signed Wednesday in Rabat a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to develop the capacity of the two countries' public prosecutors departments to fight crime, corruption, money laundering and the financing of terrorism.
Under this agreement, signed at a meeting between Morocco’s public prosecutor, Mohamed Abdennabaoui, and Palestinian Attorney General Ahmed Barak, both parties pledge to exchange legal publications, as well as researches relating in particular to the development of the action of the two institutions, said a statement by the Public Ministry.
On this occasion, Abdennabaoui highlighted the major reforms implemented in Morocco’s judicial system, particularly with regard to strengthening the independence of the judiciary vis-à-vis the legislative and executive powers, in accordance with the 2011 Constitution, as a major pillar of the consolidation of the rule of law.
For his part, the Palestinian Attorney General has expressed his willingness to strengthen and deepen cooperation between Morocco’s Public Prosecutor's Office and that of Palestine in order to fight cross-border crime, protect public freedoms and strengthen human rights.
This meeting was also an opportunity to inform the Palestinian side of the Moroccan experience in the area of the independence of the Public Prosecutor's Office and to exchange experiences in this area.
